My Story
Welcome to my corner of the internet! My name is Justin Clay, and I hail from the small town of Monroe, Georgia, nestled just an hour outside of vibrant Atlanta.
From a young age, I found solace and expression through various creative outlets. Drawing and writing became my faithful companions, allowing me to convey my thoughts, dreams, and emotions in tangible forms.
While my artistic journey began with playful sketches of beloved cartoon characters, it blossomed into a formal education at the esteemed Lamar Dodd School of Art, University of Georgia. Graduating in 2015, I embarked on a path of artistic exploration, delving into the intricate world of portrait drawing with graphite pencils, both as a cherished pastime and a freelancing endeavor.
Simultaneously, my passion for storytelling flourished. Inspired by the realms of fantasy, science fiction, and adventure, I ventured into the realm of literature, penning over six novels and venturing into the realm of self-publishing. Currently, I'm revisiting the first manuscript I completed during my high school years, infusing it with newfound depth and maturity.
The allure of design beckoned during my academic pursuits in journalism, where I discovered a latent talent for crafting visually compelling narratives. This revelation propelled me into the realm of graphic design, culminating in a competitive selection process at Lamar Dodd and eventual roles in prestigious organizations like the Walt Disney World Resort and an international public relations firm.
Professionally, I've traversed diverse landscapes, from the Department of Corrections' Office of Public Affairs to my current role as the Creative Design Coordinator at Georgia Piedmont Technical College. Each experience has enriched my skill set and fueled my ambition to leave an indelible mark in the realm of visual communication.
Outside the realms of creativity and career, I find inspiration in the immersive worlds of cinema, the captivating strokes of artistic masterpieces, and the stirring melodies of epic instrumental music. These diverse influences infuse my work with depth and dynamism, driving me to continually push the boundaries of my craft.
Amongst my proudest achievements are clinching first place in a statewide writing competition focused on the Holocaust, completing multiple novels, and being the second member of my family to attain a college degree—an accomplishment that fills me with immense pride.
Looking towards the future, my aspirations include pursuing a master's degree, expanding my literary portfolio, and daring to dream of gracing the illustrious bestsellers list. Join me on this journey of creativity, innovation, and boundless imagination.
